Senior Staff Accountant – Full Time

Under the guidance of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Staff Accountant will assist in the daily financial operations of the facility and any other task or duties the Accounting Manager and/or Director of Finance assign.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Accounting Manager in preparation of monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Use professional skepticism and perform critical assessment of information, data, and evidence collected.
  • Exercise professional judgement when analyzing information, questioning other employees, clients, and vendors, or testing controls.
  • Audit Accounts Payable checks before distribution.
  • Approve Accounts Receivable invoices before distribution.
  • Prepare monthly Accounts Receivable aging.
  • Perform Payroll reconciling and analysis.
  • Perform bank reconciliation and account analysis.
  • Perform account analysis on other general ledger accounts.
  • Attend Settlement on Event nights and prepare each events profit/loss flash.
  • Assist Accounting Manager with Audit preparations and projects.
  • Bring any unique circumstances, anomalies, or errors to the attention of the Accounting Manager or Director.
  • Look for and report any fraud or misstatement discovered through or while performing the above duties.
  • Perform the above duties at a sufficiently professional level as to pass an external, independent audit.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting, including GAAP.
  • Thorough knowledge of the external independent audit procedure and requirements.
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to multi-task between job functions.
  • Able to get along with co-workers, customers, vendors and visitors to the facility.
  • Team player.
  • Function independently with minimal supervision.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial and cost accounting.

Minimum Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business related field from a four year college or university preferred.
  • One to two years’ experience in a position with accounting responsibilities with exercise of professional skepticism and professional judgement.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Minimal supervision other than assisting junior staff accountants and accounting clerks as needed.

Computer Skills

  • Operate a personal computer using Windows, Office and other standard office equipment.
  • Must have strong computer skills, Excel and Word.  Knowledge in Peachtree Accounting Software a plus.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  • Close vision for review of accounting information on a PC monitor, as well as hard copy output.
  • Regular use of hands for typing and coding general ledger information.
  • This position requires minimal stooping and lifting, but substantial walking.  Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
